BIO
In my childhood years I was always interested in drawing
and illustrations. After concerns that I wasn't paying attention in school, I learned how to doodle in
class and pay attention at the same time. Sometimes a teacher would catch me drawing and would ask me to
repeat back what she said. She would usually let me continue to draw after I answered her correctly.
In high school, desktop computers had become more common and I
developed an interest in trying out imaging software. I downloaded demos of different programs until my
computer teacher got Corel Photo Paint on the school machines. He told me he ordered the software with
me in mind. It was a small school so there weren't many other artists in there. I learned as much as I
could about the program. I hadn't only used Photo Paint for digital artwork but graphic design too. I
used to make up my own CD covers for songs that I downloaded. When grade 12 came around I knew what I
wanted in a career.
I went to College of The North Atlantic (CNA) to study Graphic
Design for two years. I had an excellent time learning the tools of the trade and gaining new friends,
some of which I continue to work with from time to time. Shortly after finishing college I began work at
Bluedrop Performance Learning. As my real first design job, I acquired many skills that were not learned
in a classroom. After the contract was up, I decided to move to Ontario to try something new. Within a
year, I began work at Studica Limited as their lead graphic designer. The job required me to be quite
versatile. On a regular basis I would have to design print ads, web ads, newsletters, full color
catalogues, tradeshow booths and much more. As I continue to work in my field, I strive to hone my
skills and to never be satisfied with the status quo.
